This download includes a Half-Life 2 Beta inauguration with all important custom patches and maps applied that should remedy to increase the overall Beta experience siginificantly. (…assuming that you didn’t already go through the hassle of applying them yourself.)
Extract the sport onto your harddrive. It is recommended that you use the included Mac launchers for starting the game.
Do NOT separate/move the folders from the high sea directory or the game will fail to work – keep all 3 files (Half-Life 2 Beta.app, Gamefiles HL2 and Map Launcher) always in the same directory!
Additional Notes:
-100+ fixed maps included
-14 functional gameplay demos recorded
-practice config file scripts included in /hl2/cfg/ subdir for launching the playable maps by additional equipment/parameters – use the “exec” command to load these maps/demos from the ingame encourage or the “+exec” argument if you want to make a bat launcher for each map.
-engine notification messages disabled
-replaced some of the dev textures to gain the WIP maps look/feel more complete
-fixed normalmap & cubemap issues (purple shaders)
-added Half Life 2 Alpha Patch
-added Airex mod
-added “The Thing” mod
-added Team GabeN tract
-added hl-beta.spb.ru mega patch
-added multiplayer patch with working serverbrowser + GameUI & savegame fix
-added weapon fixes
-starting a newly come game now works
-added custom background music for the main menu
-added in a strict sense fixed versions of E3_strider, E3_terminal, E3_industrial, E3_town and many others – expressions of gratitude go to LLI.JI.bI.K for his outstanding work
- included a patched agent.dll that should prevent the “less than 15MB free memory” misdeed from appearing on certain machines with more than 2 GB of RAM.
-Some small graphical problems may occur on certain maps such as messed up shadows on account of example – you can disable them by opening the autoexec.cfg toothed in Gamesfiles HL2/HL2 Beta/hl2/cfg/ and change r_shadows “1? to r_shadows “0?.
This should give you an accurate idea of how the original Half-Life 2 should get looked like. I hope you find it useful despite its deficient state.
